Vintage Carved Boxwood or Resin Commemorative Medallion

This item is a circular commemorative medallion or pendant, approximately 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter, featuring a high-relief (alto-rilievo) scene. The material appears to be a fine-grained organic substance such as boxwood or a high-quality historical resin/celluloid mixture, characterized by a uniform ochre or butterscotch monochromatic tone. The central motif depicts a complex figurative scene, possibly of mythological or historical maritime significance, featuring a primary seated figure in a vessel or chariot flanked by attendants, with what appears to be a laurel or wheat bundle arching at the base. At the top of the disc is a small, precision-drilled suspension hole, suggesting it was intended to be worn as a pendant or attached to a fob. The craftsmanship shows significant detail in the drapery of the figures' garments and the surrounding architectural or environmental elements, typical of late 19th-century or early 20th-century commemorative wares.
