Vintage Solid Brass Nautical Decorative Bell

This item is a vintage decorative hand bell or wall-mountable bell constructed entirely of cast brass. The bell features a flared chime with a smooth, unadorned exterior surface that exhibits a naturally aged golden-brown patina. It is topped with a unique, stylized lyre or teardrop-shaped handle that terminates in a suspension loop at the top, likely intended for hanging or easy gripping. The handle is attached via a central pin and features two dark circular rubber or phenolic spacers at the junction to dampen vibration or protect the metal. Notably, the right arm of the handle features stamped text which appears to read 'ISRAEL' alongside other obscured characters, suggesting a mid-20th-century manufacture date, likely between 1950 and 1970. The construction displays solid craftsmanship with thick metal walls and heavy-duty casting. Condition-wise, the bell shows surface imperfections including minor scratches, spots of oxidation, and a darkened verdigris buildup in the recessed areas near the top of the chime and the suspension loop. There are no significant cracks or structural damage visible, though the rim shows slight irregularities consistent with industrial casting. The interior likely contains a standard metal clapper, though it is not visible in this perspective.
