1973 Greek 10 Lepta Coin

This is a circular coin from the Hellenic Republic (Greece), specifically a 10 Lepta piece dated 1973. The coin is struck in a copper-zinc-nickel alloy, giving it a distinct golden-yellow brassy tone. The obverse features the numeral '10' clearly positioned on the left side, with the Greek word 'ΛΕΠΤΑ' (Lepta) inscribed below it. To the right of the denomination is a profile of a bull's head, which is a traditional motif in Greek numismatics. Below the denomination, the mint date '1973' is visible. The coin displays a plain edge and has a diameter of approximately 18mm. In terms of condition, the specimen shows significant signs of circulation and age. There is widespread surface oxidation and dark patination, particularly across the lower half of the coin. Fine scratches and minor surface abrasions are visible, consistent with being handled and stored among other metal objects. The strike remains relatively clear despite the wear, and the relief of the bull and the lettering is still legible. It belongs to the period of the Third Hellenic Republic, minted shortly after the abolition of the Greek monarchy.
