San Marino 1952 Lorenzetti 'The Good Government' Fresco Postage Stamps Set

This set of three monochromatic postage stamps from the Republic of San Marino features intricate engravings based on Ambrogio Lorenzetti's 14th-century fresco cycle, 'The Allegory of Good Government' in Siena. Each stamp measures approximately 30mm x 40mm and is vertically oriented with traditional perforated edges. The top stamp (L. 50 value) depicts 'Pax' (Peace) reclining in a classical draped gown holding an olive branch. The bottom-left stamp (L. 80) represents 'Iustitia' (Justice) holding a sword and scales, while the bottom-right stamp (L. 90) portrays 'Temperantia' (Temperance) holding an hourglass. The stamps use a detailed line-engraved technique against a dark, contrasting background, providing a rich, tapestry-like texture. Printed by the Istituto Poligrafico dello Stato in Rome around 1952, these items show crisp typography reading 'REP. S. MARINO' and are identified with 'A. LORENZETTI SEC XIV' along the side. The stamps appear to be in excellent uncanceled (mint) condition with sharp perforations, no visible foxing or discoloration, and high-quality ink saturation, reflecting the superior Italian philatelic craftsmanship of the post-war era.
