Spain 1930 Mariana Pineda 10 Cents Postage Stamp

This is a used postage stamp from the Second Republic of Spain, specifically from the 1930-1931 series featuring Mariana Pineda, a Spanish national heroine. The stamp is printed in a distinct light green ink on off-white or yellowish paper. It measures approximately 20mm by 25mm with standard perforation along all four edges. The central design depicts a portrait of Mariana Pineda in 19th-century attire. Textual markings include 'CORREOS' across the top, 'MARIANA PINEDA' vertically on the left, and 'REPUBLICA ESPANOLA' along the bottom. The denomination '10 CTS' appears in the upper right. At the very bottom center is a small printer's mark indicating it was produced by the 'Fca. Nal. de Moneda y Timbre' (National Factory of Currency and Stamps). The stamp shows evidence of postal use with a faint black wavy line or circular date stamp (CDS) cancellation ink mark obscuring parts of the central image. The centering is slightly off towards the top and left, and the perforations show some minor wear and unevenness consistent with age and manual separation. There is noticeable toning and foxing on the paper fibers, suggesting a lack of climate-controlled storage over the decades.
