This item is an elaborate, hand-carved tobacco pipe presented in a custom-built oak shadow box display case. The pipe features a two-toned construction, likely composed of a light-colored wood or reed stem and a darker wood or stone bowl section. The stem is decorated with intricate pyrography and carving, featuring a repeating geometric diamond and circular pattern with a textured, stippled background. The leftmost end of the stem shows a ribbed, graduated design. The bowl section is masterfully carved into what appears to be a zoomorphic or mythical creature, possibly a crocodile or serpent, with fine detail on the scales and facial features. The pipe appears to be of significant age, possibly late 19th or early 20th century, and may have indigenous or folk art origins.
