Amethyst Quartz Geode Slice

This specimen is a natural quartz geode slice featuring a dense cluster of translucent druzy crystals. Measuring approximately 3 to 4 inches in length based on scale relative to the hand, the piece exhibits a color gradient from clear/white quartz tips to a subtle lavender-purple hue in the central crystal cavity, characteristic of light amethyst. The specimen consists of a dark, rocky basalt-like matrix or rind on the outer edge, followed by a thin white chalcedony/agate lining that serves as the host for the crystalline growth. The internal crystal faces are well-defined with sharp, pyramidal terminations that demonstrate high lustrous reflectivity. The construction is entirely natural, formed over millions of years via mineral-rich groundwater seepage. In terms of condition, the crystals appear largely intact, though typical minor micro-fracturing is visible near the cut edges where the geode was opened. There are no signs of artificial dyes or heat treatments commonly found in lower-quality commercial specimens. The craftsmanship is limited to the mechanical extraction and cleaning of the stone, preserving the raw, jagged aesthetic of the geode wall. This piece is a classic representative of geological specimens often sourced from South America, specifically Brazil or Uruguay.
