This is a vintage laboratory-style analytical balance scale, likely manufactured by Henry Becker or Central Scientific in the early to mid-20th century. The scale is mounted on a solid rectangular wooden base, which features an integrated metal weight block containing several milled apertures for cylindrical brass or steel weights; one polished metal weight remains in situ. The primary structure is composed of patinated metal, possibly steel and brass, with a central column featuring a distinctive openwork 'K' or 'B' monogram logo. The balance beam is equipped with a graduated scale, allowing for precise measurement via a sliding poise. Two circular metal pans are balanced on the arms, currently shown holding a variety of international coins.
