Mid-Century Modern Hand-Turned Footed Wooden Pears

A pair of decorative hand-turned wooden sculptures carved in the likeness of Bosc or Anjou pears. These pieces are crafted from a dense, medium-toned hardwood, likely teak, walnut, or monkey pod wood, exhibiting a rich, warm brown color with visible, attractive grain patterns including subtle 'cathedraling' on the bulbous bodies. Each pear stands approximately 4 to 5 inches tall and features a distinctively carved, angled stem that appears to be integrated into the main body or expertly dowelled for structural integrity. The finish is a smooth, low-to-mid-sheen varnish or oil that enhances the natural chatoyancy of the wood grain. Notably, these pears feature flat circular bases that elevate the fruit slightly, a design hallmark often seen in Mid-Century Modern kitchenware and tabletop decor from the 1960s or 70s. The craftsmanship is of high quality, demonstrating symmetrical turning and smooth transitions from the neck to the base. Condition appears excellent with no visible cracks, chips, or significant scuffing. There is a slight patina suggestive of age, but the wood retains a healthy moisturizing luster.
