Distressed Red Lantern Style Table Lamp

This is an antique or vintage table lamp, likely repurposed from an original lantern or designed in the lantern style. The primary body of the lamp is an irregular hexagonal shape, predominantly colored in a distressed red paint. The red paint shows significant signs of wear, flaking, and discoloration, revealing a darker, possibly black or very dark metal, underneath. Each of its six sides features a gothic-inspired arched window shape, with the interior visible through a diamond-patterned grid work, suggesting it once held or was designed to feature glass or a similar translucent material, though none is clearly visible. The top and bottom sections of the lamp body, as well as the base, are intricately cast metal, likely iron given the texture and apparent weight, with dark, possibly black, patinated finishes. The base is broad and circular with ornate, perhaps gothic or Victorian, scrollwork and geometric patterns. Resting atop the lantern body is a dark, possibly cast-iron, turned column or finial leading to the modern electrical components: a brass light bulb socket and harp, along with an electrical cord terminating in a standard two-prong plug. The visible electrical components suggest a conversion from an earlier fuel-based light source or simply a well-worn electrical conversion. There are no clear manufacturer's marks visible. The overall aesthetic points to a late 19th to early 20th-century design, or a very well-executed revival piece from the mid-20th century. The quality of the cast details on the base and upper sections indicates decent craftsmanship, though the current condition is heavily distressed.
