The hand crank, also painted red, extends from the housing. The handle of the crank is a small, round, black knob. Black script lettering on the red housing reads 'Qualcast' in a curved arc, with 'CLIPPER' horizontally underneath. Below the central screw that holds the gear plates together, the words 'DOUBLE PINION' are visible, indicating a geared mechanism for increased drilling power and stability. 'MADE IN ENGLAND' is also clearly embossed or stamped on the housing. At the top of the drill, a slender, black-painted wooden handle or grip is attached to the drive shaft, which extends down through the red housing.
