Etched Indian Brass Vase with Scalloped Rim

This is a tall, decorative brass vase featuring an intricate etched or engraved design typical of Indian metalwork from the mid-to-late 20th century. The piece stands on a circular tiered pedestal base and rises to a bulbous body that tapers into a long, slender neck. The neck terminates in a distinctive wide, scalloped, or 'pie crust' ruffled rim. The entire exterior is finished in a dark, aged patina, possibly oxidized or originally black-lacquered, which contrasts with the lighter brass color revealed through the detailed floral and foliate hand-etchings. The carvings cover the majority of the surface, including a band of floral patterns on the base and a dense ornamental scene on the central body. There are visible signs of age including surface oxidation, minor scuffs, and a dulling of the original luster, which creates an authentic vintage character. No specific maker’s marks are visible in the photo, though such pieces are frequently stamped 'Made in India' on the underside of the base.
