This specimen is a natural amethyst geode slice or 'standing' cluster, exhibiting a dense concentration of well-defined quartz crystals. The item is approximately 3 to 4 inches in diameter, fitting comfortably within an adult's palm. The crystals display a vibrant range of purple hues, from light lavender at the upper periphery to a deep, saturated violet nearing the lower center, indicating high-quality iron impurities and natural irradiation during its formation. The crystal terminations appear sharp and largely intact, reflecting light with high glassy luster across the druzy surface. The specimen features a polished outer rim, also known as the host rock or matrix, which likely consists of agate or basalt based on typical geode formations from Brazil or Uruguay. There are no visible large fractures, although natural internal flaws and minute inclusions are inherent to the quartz structure. The craftsmanship is evident in the smooth, rounded grinding of the exterior edges, allowing the specimen to be handled easily.
