Vintage Cast Aluminum Magnalite Roast Pan with Domed Lid

This is a large, oval-shaped Dutch oven or roaster, characteristic of Mid-Century cast aluminum cookware, most likely manufactured by Magnalite (GHC or Wagner Ware). The item is constructed from a heavy-duty cast aluminum alloy, known for its exceptional heat conductivity and durability. The exterior displays a matte, brushed silver-gray finish with a significant aged patina. It features a wide, deep body with integrated lug handles on either side and a high-domed lid designed for self-basting. The lid is topped with a black phenolic (Bakelite-style) knob which appears intact. The craftsmanship is utilitarian and robust, typical of American kitchenware from the 1940s through the 1970s. Regarding condition, the piece shows heavy signs of use, including surface oxidation, mineral staining, and localized carbon buildup, particularly around the lower rim and base. There are visible surface scratches and 'pitting' common for vintage aluminum that has been cleaned with abrasives. While the structural integrity remains sound with no visible cracks or warping in the casting, the piece requires a deep restorative cleaning to return it to its original luster. No maker's marks are visible on the top, though they are usually stamped on the underside of the base.
