This item consists of two distinct components that appear to belong together: a vintage brass water faucet stem and its corresponding elongated cover or escutcheon. Both pieces exhibit a golden-brown hue characteristic of aged brass, with a visible natural patina that suggests significant age and use. The faucet stem, on the right, is a multi-part assembly. Its upper section is a slender, vertically fluted shaft, likely designed to interface with a faucet handle (not present). Below this, the stem widens into a series of stepped, cylindrical sections, including what appears to be a packing nut or collar with a hexagonal section at its very bottom, indicating it was designed for tightening with a wrench. The lower part of the stem shows some discoloration and possible mineral deposits, typical of items exposed to water over time. The piece on the left is a cylindrical, hollow brass cover, tapering slightly towards the top opening and flaring out at its base. It bears partially legible embossed or engraved lettering, with the word "NON" visible and other text obscured by patina and wear. The external surface of both pieces shows scratches, scuffs, and areas where the patina has been rubbed away, revealing brighter brass underneath, consistent with regular handling and installation/removal. The overall condition suggests that these are functional components, possibly from an antique or vintage plumbing fixture, likely dating from the early to mid-20th century given the style and material.
