Its upper section is a slender, vertically fluted shaft, likely designed to interface with a faucet handle (not present). Below this, the stem widens into a series of stepped, cylindrical sections, including what appears to be a packing nut or collar with a hexagonal section at its very bottom, indicating it was designed for tightening with a wrench. The lower part of the stem shows some discoloration and possible mineral deposits, typical of items exposed to water over time. The piece on the left is a cylindrical, hollow brass cover, tapering slightly towards the top opening and flaring out at its base. It bears partially legible embossed or engraved lettering, with the word "NON" visible and other text obscured by patina and wear.
