1907 Liberty Head 'V' Nickel

This is a United States five-cent piece, commonly known as a Liberty Head or 'V' Nickel, dated 1907. The coin is composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel, featuring a diameter of 21.21 mm and a plain edge design. The obverse depicts a left-facing profile of Lady Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with 'LIBERTY,' surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The date '1907' is clearly visible at the bottom. The coin is housed in a standard 2x2 cardboard and Mylar staple-type archival flip, which shows blue ink handwritten notations including the date '1907' and a price or inventory mark of '.80'. In terms of condition, the coin displays significant honest circulation wear consistent with a grade of 'Good' to 'Very Good.' The hair detail on Liberty is mostly flat, and the word 'LIBERTY' on the coronet appears worn away or heavily obscured. There is a visible dark patina and grime accumulation along the rim and within the recessed areas of the design. No major gouges or environmental damage are immediately apparent, though the surface luster is completely gone, replaced by a dull, greyish metallic tone typical of early 20th-century nickel alloys after decades of handling. The strike appears centered, and while heavily circulated, the primary design elements remain identifiable.
