A striking two-piece decorative porcelain set consisting of a scalloped footed bowl and a matching handled underplate. The set features a deep, high-gloss black cobalt-style glaze heavily ornamented with 24-karat gold leaf transfer and hand-painted accents. The bowl sits atop a flared pedestal base and features two integrated, sleek handles. Its upper rim is dramatically scalloped and trimmed in gold. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with a continuous frieze depicting various Neoclassical Greek mythological figures in seated and standing poses. The matching oval underplate features open-work pierced handles and a scalloped edge. A central medallion on the plate depicts a classical scene, possibly Artemis with a stag, surrounded by a geometric Greek key (Meander) border.
