French Hros de la Rsistance (Heroes of the Resistance) Postage Stamp Collection

This collection consists of nine vintage French postage stamps, primarily from the renowned 'Hros de la Rsistance' series issued in the late 1950s. The set includes eight portrait stamps honoring members of the French Resistance, such as Lionel Dubray, Mre Elisabeth, Mdric Vedy, Jean-Baptiste Lebas, Jacques Renouvin, Pierre Masse, Gaston Moutardier, and Robert Keller. A ninth stamp commemorates the 25th anniversary of the 1945 Victory, appearing in a distinct red, white, and blue patriotic design. The portrait stamps are monochrome engravings in shades of blue, green, sepia, and violet, each featuring a bust of the honored figure flanked by laurel borders. All stamps are vertically oriented rectangles with standard perforated edges. Physically, the stamps show signs of postal circulation, including circular black ink cancellation marks (postmarks), though some retain vibrant pigment. There is evidence of minor foxing (yellowing) due to age, particularly on the white margins. One stamp shows a partial selvage at the bottom. These stamps represent high-quality mid-20th-century French philatelic craftsmanship, utilizing fine line engraving to commemorate historical figures from the World War II era.
