The exterior of the bowl and the underplate are finished in a vibrant cobalt blue glaze with black hand-painted outlines defining the petal veins, while the interior of the bowl and the entire ladle feature a striking iridescent peach or gold lusterware finish. The luster creates a pearlescent, metallic sheen that reflects light in a rainbow spectrum. The construction appears to be molded earthenware or porcelain, typical of Japanese lusterware imports from the mid-20th century (circa 1940s-1960s). The bowl's rim is wave-edged to mimic blooming petals, and the underplate shares this lobed silhouette.
