Vintage Translucent Red Faceted Glass or Plastic Buttons

This set consists of six vintage buttons mounted on an original, though damaged, paper merchant card. The buttons are crafted from a translucent, ruby-red material, likely either early thermoset plastic (such as Lucite or Catalin) or glass, given their high clarity and refractive properties. Each button features a beveled, faceted edge that mimics gemstone cutting, leading to a central recessed well where the two sew-through holes are located. Physically, they appear to be approximately 15-18mm in diameter with a distinct depth and structured geometry typical of mid-20th-century garment fasteners. The color is a deep, uniform crimson with no visible internal inclusions or swirls. The condition of the buttons themselves appears excellent, exhibiting minimal surface scratching and no significant chips or cracks. However, the original white card backing is in poor condition, showing significant creasing, yellowing with age, and a large torn section on the right side. The blue pinstripe border and faint numerical markings on the bottom left suggest a manufacturing date between the 1940s and 1960s. The presence of original thread securing them to the card adds historical context to their manufacture and retail presentation.
