Alfred Meakin English Ironstone Saucer

This is a vintage ceramic saucer, likely part of a tea service, manufactured by the renowned English firm Alfred Meakin. The item is constructed from high-quality white ironstone or semi-porcelain, featuring a smooth, glazed finish. It is decorated with two concentric bands: a larger gold-leaf or metallic-toned rim and a thinner inner ring that demarcates the cup well. The physical condition shows signs of significant age and use; there are visible dark spots or 'peeling' on the surface which could be kiln debris, mineral staining, or localized crazing. The inner circular line appears somewhat worn or inconsistently applied, suggesting a mid-20th-century production era, possibly between 1930 and 1950. The underside features a clear blue backstamp which reads "ALFRED MEAKIN • ENGLAND" arranged in a circular fashion around a central crown motif, a signature mark of the pottery house based in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent. The base also shows a small impressed or painted mark, possibly a '7', which often denotes a specific production line or worker's mark. Despite some surface foxing or spotting, the structural integrity appears sound with no visible chips or cracks in this particular view.
