1956 Italian 50 Lire Coin (Vulcano Original Type)

This is a 1956 Italian 50 Lire coin, minted during the Italian Republic era. The coin is struck in Acmonital (Acciaio Monetario Italiano), a stainless steel-chromium alloy, which gives it a bright, silver-toned metallic finish and magnetic properties. The reverse side, as shown in the image, features a muscular figure of the Roman god Vulcan (Vulcano) standing at an anvil, wielding a hammer. To the left is the year of mintage '1956', and to the right is the denomination 'L. 50'. A small 'R' mint mark for the Rome Mint is visible near the bottom right. The coin measures 24.8 mm in diameter with a weight of 6.25 grams and a smooth edge. This specific design was created by Giuseppe Romagnoli and Pietro Giampaoli. Regarding condition, it appears to be in circulated condition with visible surface scratches, minor contact marks (bag marks), and some loss of original mint luster, though the relief remains sharp. There is no major oxidation typical of this alloy, but some dirt accumulation is visible in the recessed areas. The striking is well-centered with no evidence of major planchet defects.
