This is a hand-blown Murano art glass compote or centerpiece bowl, likely originating from Italy during the mid-20th century, specifically the 1950s or 1960s. The piece features a vibrant ruby red (or cranberry) glass bowl and pedestal base, connected by a highly ornate clear glass stem with significant gold leaf (aventurine) flake inclusions. The stem is sculpted into the form of a stylized seahorse, a classic motif often associated with Murano glassmakers like Salviati or Seguso. The seahorse shows complex lampworking techniques, featuring delicate glass fins and a spiraled body that captures the light. The large bowl has a wide, slightly flared, and scalloped or lobed rim that creates a clover-like shape when viewed from above.
