This is a large, wheel-thrown studio pottery stoneware vase featuring a tall ovoid body that tapers toward a narrow, rounded base and flat-rimmed collar. The exterior features a matte, speckled sky-blue glaze as the primary base, accented by a broad horizontal band of sage green glaze wrapped around the shoulder. A hand-painted, abstract floral or botanical motif in earthy brown and tan iron-wash tones extends vertically across the green band. The craftsmanship suggests a mid-to-late 20th-century aesthetic, likely contemporary studio pottery. Regarding condition, the piece shows significant structural damage characterized by a large, prominent vertical crack running from the top rim down through the decorative shoulder. There is also a notable chip missing from the upper rim. Further surface wear is visible near the base with dark scuff marks and various abrasions. Despite these flaws, the glaze application shows skilled control of temperature and medium, typical of professional kiln-fired ceramics.
