Mid-Century Modern Rattan Paul Frankl Style Two-Tier Side Table

A vintage mid-century modern circular side table constructed from bent rattan and wood. The piece is inspired by the iconic designs of Paul Frankl, featuring a sturdy three-leg core assembly. Each leg is composed of a bundle of three vertical rattan poles, which are bound together with rattan peel wrappings at the top, middle, and bottom for structural integrity and aesthetic texture. From this central bundle, individual rattan canes arch outward to form supportive brackets for the upper circular top. The table features two solid wood surfaces: a primary circular top and a matching lower shelf, both finished in a warm, honey-toned amber lacquer that complements the natural variation of the rattan. The construction shows high-quality craftsmanship characteristic of the 1940s-1950s tropical modernism era. Regarding condition, the table appears well-preserved with a healthy aged patina. There are minor visible scuffs and finish loss on the circular edges of the wooden surfaces, consistent with light domestic use.
