This is a mid-20th-century Italian marquetry occasional table, likely of Sorrento origin. The rectangular top features elaborate inlaid woodwork consisting of various dyed and natural fruitwoods. The central medallion showcases a classic foliate and scroll motif, surrounded by secondary panels with griffins or mythical bird motifs and intricate geometric bordering. The construction utilizes a veneering technique over a secondary wood base. The table is supported by four slender, cabriole legs that exhibit an elegant out-swept curve, common in 18th-century revival styles. The dark mahogany or walnut stained legs provide a stark contrast to the lighter honey-toned veneers of the top. Regarding condition, there are visible surface age-related imperfections including minor scratches, scattering of white residue (possibly old wax or paint flecks), and some slight fading to the finish consistent with residential use.
