Vintage Creamware Fruit Motif Tureen

This is a vintage ceramic tureen, likely mid-20th century, crafted from a cream-colored earthenware or creamware. The vessel features a rectangular, bulbous body resting on a flared pedestal base, with a matching domed lid equipped with a decorative loop handle. The lid includes a notch specifically designed to accommodate a serving ladle. The primary decoration consists of colorful transfer-ware or hand-painted fruit motifs, including peaches, plums, and yellow flowers, accented by green foliage. The edges of the rim, handles, and base are highlighted with a thin reddish-brown stripes. In terms of condition, the piece shows significant signs of age and use, including visible surface staining and foxing (small brown spots) on the cream glaze, particularly around the upper shoulder of the body. There is also evident wear and minor chipping on the reddish-brown painted trim and around the handle areas, showing the underlying pottery. The glaze exhibits some fine crazing consistent with older earthenware.
