Vintage Kundo 400-Day Torsion Anniversary Clock

This is a vintage mid-20th-century torsion-pendulum clock, commonly known as an 'Anniversary Clock,' manufactured by the German clockmaker Kieninger & Obergfell (Kundo). The clock is constructed primarily of brass with an aged, dull gold-tone finish. It features a circular white enamel or porcelain dial adorned with a delicate floral garland of pink roses and green leaves, situated inside the Arabic numeral ring. The hands are black, spade-style metal. The clock movement is supported by two spirally twisted (barley-twist) brass pillars mounted on a tiered circular base. At the top of the dial housing are three decorative brass finials. Below the dial, the rotating four-ball pendulum hangs, designed to rotate slowly back and forth on a thin suspension spring. The dial is marked 'Kundo' at the center and 'Made in Germany' at the very bottom. Condition-wise, the brass displays significant tarnishing and surface oxidation throughout, particularly on the base and the top finial section, suggesting a loss of protective lacquer over time. The original glass or plastic protective dome is missing. The clock is likely from the 1950s or 1960s, a period when these mechanical German clocks were popular household gifts.
