This is a vintage-style brass chamberstick, also known as a candle holder, featuring a nautical gimbal design intended to keep the candle upright on uneven surfaces such as a ship. The item is constructed from high-quality polished brass with a rich gold-toned finish. It stands on a circular, stepped pedestal base that supports a shallow, wide drip pan. Above the pan sits a weighted spherical counterweight, atop which is the candle socket. A distinctive curved, scroll-shaped handle is attached to the side of the drip pan, allowing for easy carrying. The gimbal mechanism is integrated into the central post, enabling the candle and its protective sphere to pivot.
