This is a United States Standing Liberty Quarter, specifically showing the reverse side featuring an eagle in flight. Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, the coin has a diameter of approximately 24.3 millimeters. The design, created by Hermon Atkins MacNeil, was minted between 1916 and 1930. This specific specimen displays the 'Type 2' style reverse (notable by the three stars below the eagle and its higher position), which was utilized from 1917 to 1930. The coin exhibits a significant amount of wear, consistent with a 'Good' or 'Very Good' numismatic grade. The eagle's feathers show substantial loss of detail, particularly in the breast area, and the wingtips are merging slightly with the fields. The lettering 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' and 'QUARTER DOLLAR' remains legible but is softened at the edges. A distinct dark gray patina is visible across the fields, contrasting with lighter highlights on the raised relief. There are minor contact marks and small scratches consistent with decades of circulation.
