This is a mid-century vintage Stella acoustic guitar, manufactured by the Harmony Company of Chicago, likely dating from the 1960s. The instrument features an auditorium-sized body with a distinctive faux-tiger grain or 'sunburst' finish applied over what appears to be a birch wood body. The top is flat, but it utilizes an archtop-style configuration with a floating wooden bridge and a chrome-plated stamped metal trapeze tailpiece. The neck features a dark-stained fretboard with unique rectangular perloid block inlays and white fret markers. The headstock displays the classic 'Stella' logo in a vertical script. A notable feature is the white plastic pickguard held in place by metal screws. The guitar is seated in a period-correct hardshell 'chipboard' case with a vibrant red velvet or felt plush lining. Physically, the guitar shows signs of age consistent with a vintage instrument, including minor surface scuffs and dulling of the finish. The white binding around the body edges appears intact.
