Mid-Century Floor Standing Replogle Library Globe

This is a vintage Replogle floor-standing world globe, estimated to date from the mid-20th century, approximately the 1950s to 1970s. The piece features a traditional parchment-style map orb, which is held within a graduated brass-finished metal meridian ring. The meridian is engraved with degree markings to assist in latitude reading. This assembly is mounted into an integrated wooden horizon ring, which sits atop a four-legged turned hardwood stand. The stand is characterized by its Duncan Phyfe or Colonial Revival style turned legs, connected by a cross-stretcher for structural stability. The map itself displays a cartouche with an eagle emblem, typical of the Replogle brand, noting the 'World Classic' series. The color palette consists of warm ochre, cream, and brown tones, designed to mimic an aged antique aesthetic. In terms of condition, there is visible surface wear to the wooden horizon ring, including some scuffs and possible finish loss near the edges. The globe surface shows minor foxing or soiling consistent with age. One side of the equator tape appears slightly lifted or worn, and the brass meridian shows a moderate amount of oxidation and patina. Despite these age-related issues, the piece retains its structural integrity and decorative appeal as a classic piece of library furniture.
