Appraisal Report
This beautiful embroidered, needlepoint artwork of flowers in a basket was produced by Woodward & Co., Picture and Looking Glass Manufacturers, located at 139 Oxford Street in London, and affiliated with Thomas Woodward, an English painter whose works included Hunting Scenes, portraits and landscapes. The company would have produced pictures and looking glasses, and have framed pictures as well. Considering the quality of the frame, this is a quality piece. The times of the business at this location range from 1848-1892. Although we don't have a date to determine the exact year this was created, based on the item number 39/24, it was likely an early work and the frame and artwork indicate it is a Victorian-era piece, before or during the time of the peak popularity of this company from 1851-1871. The piece is in excellent condition, and would be of interest to collectors of Victorian-era artwork and needlepoint art pieces. Valued at a range of $150.00 - $400.00.
