Antique J&P Coats 6-Drawer Oak Spool Cabinet

This is an authentic J&P Coats six-drawer spool cabinet, dating from approximately the late 19th to early 20th century. Constructed of solid oak with a prominent vertical grain, the cabinet features six horizontal drawers designed for the retail display of sewing thread. Each drawer front showcases a distinctive recessed glass panel with gold-leaf lettering on a black background, indicating thread types such as 'J&P COATS', 'SPOOL COTTON', 'WHITE', 'BLACK', 'COLORS', and 'BEST SIX CORD'. The unit is flanking by decorative reeded / fluted corner columns and is topped with a tiered molding. The drawer hardware consists of original teardrop-style brass pulls. A modern glass top has been added to the flat upper surface to protect the wood. Condition-wise, the oak displays a warm, aged patina with expected superficial scratching, minor dings on the trim, and slight wear along the base consistent with commercial use. The decals behind the glass appear excellently preserved with minimal flaking.
