Antique German Parian Bisque Shoulder Head Doll

This is an antique Parian-style bisque shoulder head doll, likely of German origin from the mid-to-late 19th century (circa 1860-1880). The doll features a highly detailed molded hairstyle consisting of tight blonde/light brown curls adorned with a purple bow. Her facial features are delicately hand-painted, including deep blue eyes, fine eyelashes, single-stroke eyebrows, and a closed mouth with coral-colored lips. The doll exhibits decorative molded elements such as purple earrings and an elaborate tiered necklace with white beaded details. The ceramic portion consists of a shoulder head plate attached to a stuffed cloth body with ceramic lower arms. The shoulders are decorated with a molded blue and white collar featuring geometric patterns. Regarding condition, there is a prominent vertical crack running through the lower right portion of the bisque shoulder plate, starting near the molded necklace and extending down to the base. There is visible surface grime consistent with age and handled use, particularly on the cloth torso which shows light staining. A small circular hole is visible on the left side of the shoulder plate, likely for secure attachment to the body. Despite the structural crack, the facial painting remains vibrant and the molded detail on the hair is sharp, indicating a high level of craftsmanship.
