1922 United States Peace Silver Dollar

This is a 1922 United States Peace Silver Dollar, minted in approximately 90% silver and 10% copper. The coin features the profile of Lady Liberty facing left on the obverse, wearing a radiate crown, with the word 'LIBERTY' above her and the motto 'IN GOD WE TRVST' (using the Latin 'V' for 'U') flanking her neck. The date '1922' is prominently displayed at the bottom. This specific specimen exhibits a significant degree of surface wear and environmental damage. There is heavy pitting, dark toning, and mottled discoloration across the entire obverse field, which obscures some of the finer detail in Liberty's hair and the cheekbones. The rim shows slight softening but remains relatively intact. The metallic color is a dull silver with greyish-black patination typical of a coin that has seen circulation or poor storage conditions. Peace dollars were designed by Anthony de Francisci to commemorate the end of World War I and were produced from 1921 to 1935. While 1922 is the most common year for this series, the historical significance and silver content remain key value drivers despite the visible surface degradation and lack of mint luster on this particular example.
