This is a complete collection of the 11 World War II era Jefferson 'Silver' Nickels, presented in a clear acrylic display case with a patriotic red, white, and blue interior mounting board. Due to the scarcity of nickel during the war effort, these coins were minted using an alloy of 35% silver, 56% copper, and 9% manganese between late 1942 and 1945. A distinguishing feature of these 'War Nickels' is the large mint mark located above the dome of Monticello on the reverse, marking the first time the letter 'P' was used for the Philadelphia Mint.
