Murano Style Amethyst and Pink Sommerso Glass Swan Figurine

This item is an elegant art glass figurine of a swan, crafted using the sommerso (submerged) technique. The figurine features a deep amethyst glass core encapsulated within layers of soft pink and clear glass. The physical construction displays a graceful S-curved neck leading to a highly detailed head. The head is adorned with a large, upright translucent clear glass crest with flame-like textured ribbing, while the beak is also rendered in clear glass. A small clear glass tail finial provides balance at the rear. The base of the swan is weighted and solid, typical of hand-blown heavy glass art. This piece exhibits characteristics of Mid-Century Modern Italian glasswork, likely originating from Murano or an associated studio such as Soffieria De Maio or Seguso between the 1950s and 1970s. The craftsmanship is evident in the smooth transitions between color layers and the lack of visible seams. Condition appears excellent with no visible chips, cracks, or fleabites, though very light shelf wear on the bottom of the base is expected for a piece of this vintage. There are no immediate visible maker's marks or signatures in the photograph, which is common for exported Murano glass of this era that originally bore paper labels.
