This is a vintage earthenware figurine by Goebel, based on the artwork of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, titled 'Wayside Devotion'. The piece features a young girl kneeling in prayer before a tall roadside shrine (Bildstock). The shrine contains a small figurine of the Virgin Mary in a niche, topped with a peaked gabled roof. The girl is depicted wearing a red headscarf, a green jacket, and a reddish-brown skirt, holding a woven basket on her arm. To her left stands a stylized green pine tree. The figurine is crafted from glazed ceramic with the characteristic soft, muted color palette associated with mid-century Hummel production, utilizing earthy browns, greens, and ochres. It stands on a slightly tiered cream-colored rectangular base. Regarding condition, the piece shows minor surface dust in the crevices and light crazing typical of aged glaze, particularly visible on the shrine's column and roof; however, there are no immediate signs of chips, cracks, or professional restorations.
