Mackenzie-Childs Style Inlaid Wood and Marble Table Lamp

This is a whimsical, eclectic table lamp featuring a multi-faceted, octagonal design and construction. The base is crafted from a solid octagonal slab of white and grey veined marble, providing stability. The main pillar is an octagonal column decorated with decorative wood inlay in a checkerboard and rectangular pattern, utilizing different wood tones ranging from dark mahogany hues to light maple or birch. The neck of the lamp transitions into a wider octagonal platform with a sunburst-patterned wood inlay. Above this, the central metal socket is flanked by four black slender vertical rods, three of which support hanging 'Courtly Check' style charms or tassels that mimic a checkered balsa wood or ceramic tile aesthetic. The lamp is capped with a rectangular, dark brown or bronze-toned shade. The overall design is characteristic of the Postmodern or 'Whimsical' design movement from the late 20th century, specifically the 1980s or 1990s.
