This item is a pair of vintage or antique cufflinks featuring carved scarab beetles set in what appears to be gold-toned metal, possibly gold-plated or solid gold. Each cufflink consists of an oval-shaped, dark teal to deep green scarab beetle carving. The scarabs are intricately detailed on their dorsal side, showcasing the characteristic wing cases (elytra) and head structure of the beetle. The material of the scarab appears to be a natural gemstone, possibly steatite, jasper, or a similar hardstone, known for its use in Egyptian revival jewelry. The craftsmanship of the carvings is somewhat simplified but clearly depicts the insect. Each carved scarab is bezel-set within an oval frame made of polished yellow metal.
