Case XX 'The American Spirit' Double Eagle Bicentennial Bowie Knife

This is a commemorative fixed-blade Bowie knife manufactured by W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. for the American Bicentennial, circa 1976. The knife features a large, satin-finished stainless steel clip-point blade prominently etched with 'THE AMERICAN SPIRIT DOUBLE EAGLE' and stylized '76' graphics featuring an eagle and scrollwork. The tang is stamped with 'CASE XX STAINLESS USA' and the model number '2470'. The handle is constructed from genuine stag (deer antler) with a rugged, textured surface and natural cream and brown tones. It is further accented with a polished nickel silver crossguard and an eagle-head pommel. This piece exhibits excellent craftsmanship characteristic of mid-century Case knives. The condition appears to be very good to near-mint, with no significant pitting, rust, or sharpening wear visible on the blade, though the polished metal surfaces show very minor surface handling marks. The factory finish on the etch remains crisp, and the stag handle scales are tight and free of cracks. This model was produced as a limited edition collectible to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the United States.
