Vintage Burberrys' House Check Canvas Crossbody Bag

This is a vintage Burberrys' (pre-1999 branding) crossbody bag featuring the iconic house check pattern. The bag is constructed from a heavy woven canvas in a tan base with black, red, and white intersecting stripes. It is trimmed with black leather piping and features a prominent black leather oval patch on the front face, embossed with the classic Equestrian Knight logo and the 'Burberrys' text. The bag's silhouette is rectangular with rounded corners, measuring approximately 10 inches in width. It includes a leather strap and gold-tone hardware, visible at the side attachment. The design typical of the late 1980s or 1990s luxury fashion market. Regarding condition, the bag shows significant signs of wear and age. Most notably, there is extensive red staining or ink bleeding onto the canvas surface in the upper right and lower left quadrants. There is visible fading of the check pattern in certain areas, particularly on the lower left where the knight motif appears worn. The leather piping shows surface scuffing and signs of dry-rot or cracking along the top edge near the zipper. Dust and general atmospheric staining are evident throughout the canvas fibers, indicating it has not been professionally cleaned recently. Despite the damage, the stitching remains largely intact, suggesting high original craftsmanship.
