Vintage Incised Ceramic Table Lamp Base

This is a vintage ceramic table lamp base, characterized by its substantial, rotund-shaped body. The primary material appears to be a heavy, unglazed ceramic or pottery, exhibiting a warm, earthy beige to light brown coloration. The surface of the body is intricately decorated with deeply incised patterns, which include bands of geometric motifs, possibly resembling stylized hieroglyphs or abstract tribal patterns, and wavy, organic lines that add texture and visual interest. The incised areas appear to have a darker, reddish-brown hue within the grooves, possibly from an applied stain or natural oxidation, contrasting with the lighter raised surfaces. The upper portion of the lamp transitions from the wide body to a narrower neck, which then widens again to a circular, flat top. A distinct, thin brown band circles the rim of this top section.
