Culver Ltd. Frosted and 22K Gold Banded Tumblers

This is a set of three vintage mid-century modern highball tumblers produced by Culver Ltd. The glasses feature a distinctive three-quarter frosted finish on the upper body, capped with a thin 22-karat gold rim. The base of each glass is decorated with a series of wide, horizontal bands. These bands include a prominent 22K gold stripe at the bottom, a textured silver or pewter-tone metallic band in the center, and a thinner gold band above that. The 'Culver Ltd.' signature is visible in a stylized script, likely applied in gold leaf or decal, positioned near the top of the banded section. The glasses are constructed from heavy, clear soda-lime glass with a weighted bottom for stability. In terms of condition, there is significant wear consistent with age and probable machine washing. The frosted finish appears speckled and uneven in places, and the gold gilding shows noticeable thinning, pitting, and loss, particularly on the middle horizontal bands. These pieces likely date to the 1960s or 1970s, a period when Culver was renowned for its opulent, gold-embossed glassware. While the craftsmanship is high-quality, the current condition reflects heavy utility use rather than pristine archival storage.
