Vintage Cameo Rhinestone Screw-Back Drop Earrings

This is a pair of vintage costume jewelry drop earrings featuring a classical cameo motif. The earrings are constructed from a gold-toned base metal, likely brass or a plated alloy, and utilize a screw-back fastening mechanism common in the mid-20th century (circa 1940s-1960s). Each earring consists of a small circular rhinestone set at the base of the screw-back, from which hangs a decorative floral-halo pendant. The central element of each pendant is a molded resin or plastic cameo depicting a right-facing female profile in creamy white against a black ground. This ‘in reverse’ cameo style mimics the look of onyx or hardstone cameos. The central cameo is encircled by a border of approximately twelve clear paste or glass rhinestones in a pronged, petal-like setting. In terms of condition, there is visible oxidation and darkening to the gold-toned metal, particularly on the screw mechanisms and the backs of the settings.
