Rick Mast #1 Majik Market Die-Cast Stock Car

This is a 1:64 scale die-cast model representing Rick Mast's #1 Oldsmobile stock car, featuring sponsorship from Majik Market. The vehicle is constructed with a metal body and likely a plastic chassis, common for collectibles from the early 1990s. The color scheme is a stark black and white with blue and light green graphic accents. Notable markings include the large number '1' on the white roof, flanked by the driver's name 'Rick Mast' in black script. The 'MAJIK' logo is prominent on the hood and trunk lid. The condition shows significant play wear consistent with its age, including numerous paint chips on the black front bumper and roof edges, along with general surface scuffing and dust accumulation. Such models were typically produced by Racing Collectibles Inc. (RCI) or similar brands during the NASCAR boom. The craftsmanship is standard for mass-produced racing miniatures of that era, focused on decal accuracy over intricate fine-part detail.

Based on my examination of the Rick Mast #1 Majik Market die-cast, I have determined this is a standard 1:64 scale model, likely produced by Racing Collectibles Inc. (RCI) circa 1991-1992. The authenticity of the casting appears consistent with mass-market retail releases of the early 1990s NASCAR era. The condition is the primary factor affecting value; the piece shows significant 'play-worn' characteristics, including heavy paint loss on the front fascia and roof pillars, which typically relegates the item to 'filler' status rather than a centerpiece for a high-end collection. The market for 1:64 die-cast from this era is currently saturated. While Rick Mast maintains a dedicated fanbase, this specific Majik Market livery was produced in high volumes. Comparable sales for loose, played-with examples frequently fall under the $5 mark at memorabilia shows and online auctions. A 'mint-in-box' version might fetch $15-$25, but the visible scuffing and lack of packaging significantly diminish its liquidity. Limitations: My assessment is based solely on digital imagery. For a certified authentication, I would need to inspect the chassis for manufacturer stamps to rule out generic knock-offs and use a jeweler’s Loupe to confirm the integrity of the pad-printed graphics versus aftermarket decals. A full physical inspection would also assess axle straightness and the presence of underlying oxidation (zinc pest) that can occur in older alloys. Provenance documentation showing this was part of a specific historical collection would be required to warrant a higher valuation.
