Mid-Century Modern glass globe pendant light fixture

This is a pendant light fixture featuring a spherical glass shade mounted to a polished chrome-finished metal base and canopy. The glass globe is primarily white with an applied swirled or mottled pattern of multicolored glass threads or splashes in shades of blue, orange, and light green, giving it a playful, artisanal appearance reminiscent of mid-century modern or contemporary decorative lighting design. The fixture is designed to be ceiling-mounted, with a curved metal arm extending from the base to support the orb. The polished chrome components display a clean, reflective surface with minimal visible wear, although the electrical wiring is currently exposed and cut, indicating that the piece is uninstalled and not fully tested. A paper label or tape strip with handwritten text reading 'Works' is draped near the item, but this unverified context should be treated with caution as the functional state is unauthenticated from visual inspection alone. There are no visible maker's marks, stamps, or signatures on the chrome base or the glass globe, making the exact manufacturer or designer unknown. The construction style suggests a mid-to-late 20th century production date, consistent with mass-produced decorative home accessories of that era, but such dating remains a stylistic estimation. The overall condition appears clean with the glass free of obvious cracks or chips in this view, though a thorough physical examination would be necessary to verify complete structural integrity.

Based on what I can see in the photograph, this pendant light fixture features a spherical white glass shade with multicolored glass splashes mounted to a polished chrome-finished base, presenting a style consistent with mid-century modern or contemporary decorative lighting design. I cannot verify from a photo whether the electrical components are safely operational, and the exposed, cut wiring indicates that the piece is currently uninstalled and untested. There are no visible maker's marks or signatures on the chrome or glass components, leaving the exact manufacturer unknown. Consequently, any stylistic attribution remains a working assumption. The basis for my value estimate considers similar unbranded decorative lighting from the mid-to-late 20th century, which typically trades in the $150 to $300 range depending on current decorative demand for retro aesthetics. General market conditions show steady interest in mid-century inspired home accessories, though unbranded pieces lack the robust collector demand of documented designer works. To better understand the item's value and safety, I would need physical inspection to confirm the structural integrity of the glass and metal, as well as professional electrical testing. If this piece turns out to be a modern mass-market reproduction or purely 'in the style of' vintage lighting rather than a period-appropriate production, the value would likely decrease to the $50 to $100 range, constrained purely to its utility as current decorative lighting.
