This item is a vintage ergonomic furniture component, specifically a bentwood seat shell manufactured by Flötotto in collaboration with Pagholz. The piece is constructed from Pagholz, a high-pressure laminate of beech wood veneers infused with phenolic resins, resulting in a dense, moisture-resistant, and highly durable material. The surface features a warm, reddish-brown mahogany or dark teak stain with a visible natural wood grain pattern. Centrally located on the surface is the distinct Flötotto maker's mark: a square stamp containing the 'FPF' logo (standing for Flötotto Pagholz Friedrichsdorf) above the 'FLÖTOTTO' name in a stylized sans-serif typeface. This specific marking indicates a production period likely between the 1960s and 1980s, a hallmark of German Mid-Century Modern industrial design.
